Virtual Survey Experience

Before your virtual survey, follow the easy preparation instructions below.

Moving Just Got Easier…

A Virtual Survey allows you to video chat with a United moving expert, enabling them to assess your moving needs and estimate the cost of your move remotely. We make it easy to get your custom moving quote quickly and on your time. Receive all of the benefits of an in-person estimate, but with the ease of simply using your phone or tablet.

Things to do before your Virtual Survey:

  • Ensure you have access to a supported device with a camera, such as a phone or tablet.
  • Ensure you have a browser that supports our Virtual Survey experience. These browsers include Chrome 92+ for Android devices, Safari 12.1+ for iOS devices, Firefox 44+, and Edge 79+.
  • Make sure your device is fully charged.
  • Ensure you have a strong Wi-Fi connection. If you’re not connected to Wi-Fi, data charges may apply.
  • Make sure your browser has WiFi Assist enabled for the best video connection performance which can be found in your settings. Steps may vary depending on the device.
  • Turn on lights in all of the rooms you’ll be showing your estimator. Keep a flashlight on hand for rooms with little access to light.
  • Open all cabinets and closets to display items you’ll need us to move.
  • Keep a tape measure on hand in case your estimator asks you to measure an item for accuracy.
  • If items being moved are located at an off site location like an office, another home, self-storage, etc. be prepared to provide a picture/video or list of the items to the estimator.

Be prepared to:

  • Receive a link sent by email or text from your estimator on the day of your Virtual Survey. When you click that link, your video call will begin in the web experience.
  • Show your estimator all of the rooms in your home, including storage areas, the garage, the shed, the attic, and your yard.
  • Let your estimator know which items you want to have loaded onto the moving truck and which ones you don’t.
  • Disclose any valuables that are worth more than $100 per pound, such as antiques, fine china and designer apparel.
  • Point out any items that are delicate or prone to breaking.
  • Show your estimator the exterior of your home to discuss accessibility to the moving truck.
